Koh Hae, also commonly known as Coral Island, is a paradise island only a bit more than a mile off of the coast of Southeast Phuket, Thailand. Giant palm trees, balmy tropical weather and plenty of water and land activities await you here. Getting to Coral Island is easy from Phuket.
Available at Rawai Beach and Chalong Pier, there are longtail boats available for rent. If you’re interested in a longer yet scenic and enjoyable trip, this may be the best way to go. Alternatively, you could also book a snorkeling trip out of Chalong and ask for travel by speedboat. There is a company that will take you to Coral Island within fifteen minutes on a speedboat, they’ll lend you a mask, fins and a snorkel for the trip and they’ll include a buffet lunch. This option is marginally more expensive than renting the longtail boat but it’s loved by tourists.
There are two beaches on Coral Island that are made up of fine, white sand. There’s Long Beach and Banana Beach available to indulge in sunbathing or swimming. A bit off of the coast from Long Beach there is a coral reef underwater that explains the name of the island: “Coral Island”. Snorkeling off of Banana Beach is also a great day activity: what it lacks in coral it makes up for in sea life!
If you’re looking for an adventurous ride that you’ll remember forever, Coral Island’s speedboat parasailing trips are the most thrilling activity available here. This is an activity that is relatively inexpensive yet makes for a more exhilarating experience than most other activities. You can find the parasailing trip only on Long Beach. If you’re on Banana Beach your options still include rentals for canoes and banana boats as well as guided snorkeling trips.
